Autumn Harvest Celebration 2019

Updated: May 19, 2023

Fall Harvest Celebration | Nourish Farm Turlock

Our Autumn Harvest Celebration was last weekend, October 12. It was a celebration kicking off our Fall CSA season and celebrating all the bounty from our first year growing for Nourish Farm. I love creating spaces to bring the community together, and that's exactly what the day was about, it was beautiful.

We invited other local makers from around Turlock including our mom's succulent creations, Karo's Kreations; locally roasted fair trade coffee from Six:Eight Coffee Roasting; knitwear, childrens toys/accessories and children's clothing from Remy & Bello; modern, nature inspired home decor from Mod Roots; Kala brought her Rayon de Lune items - beautifully handmade macrame wall hangings and plant hangers; and I brought out my Sunkissed Botanics skin care and herbal healing products. And we of course had out fresh produce and herbs from our gardens, lovely bouquets made by Kala, and our spring lamb meat for sale. We had a great variety of goods for guests to shop!

Our complimentary nourishment table was full of delicious foods from our gardens and other local growers. We also had freshly baked sourdough bread from a friend of our's who makes delicious bread and has a podcast all about sourdough bread called The Sourdough Podcast. I made some of my favorite pesto sauce (see this post for my recipe) and a garden salad. We had some great cheeses from Nicolau Farms, olive oil from Sciabica's in Modesto, and a wine and mimosa bar hosted by my brother-in-law, who got us some great wines from Gallo. Everyone seemed to really enjoy the food, especially the bread and pesto - we didn't have much leftover at the end of the event!

Our kids station, headed up by our lovely highschooler cousin, was a fun spot for kids to paint pictures of flowers and vegetables with watercolor, grab some stickers and go on a scavenger hunt around the farm and garden. We were so happy to see so many families show up and bring their little ones. They always love playing on our big tree swing and petting the sheep and piggies. Our kiddos were dirty and tired at the end of it, and had so much fun sharing their farm with new friends.

My heart always feels so full after days like this. Opening up our home to the community is one of the things I dreamed of doing when we bought this property. I'm just so, so happy we've been able to do this so many times already in the short time we've called this place home. Here are some photos captured by myself & my sis-in-law throughout the day.
